IIGS™ Webmaster Projects

Here is the list of the projects and volunteers as discussed in the meeting at 2:00 GMT 27 May 1997. Anyone from the Webmasters team not on the list please volunteer for a slot if at all possible. We can always use more volunteers. To see just what our Webmasters are involved in you can visit the Projects Listings. You can also visit the list of Liaisons to the International Internet Genealogical Society committees.

1. The Style Guide.
Transfer the standards discussed in Meeting 3 26 May 02:00 GMT into set of web page(s) on the either the central IIGS™ site or the Webmasters space. The initial page should just be a transfer of notes from the meeting into some logical order. This can be expanded on at a later stage.

2. The FAQ.
Construct an FAQ with information we currently have available, eg: Mailing Lists. This can be expanded on at a later stage.

3. The Webmasters Archive.
The archive will contain things like images, old pages, etc. Initially to be set up at Joe's Webmasters Page. To be moved to the central IIGS™ site at a later stage.

4. Graphics Design The design and creation of any new graphics required for the Central IIGS™ site.

Volunteers: Joanne Rabun, Marsha Wilcox, & Wally Garchow

5. Page construction.
Initially construction of the home page and second level pages in required languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and I think Portuguese). Later any other pages that are required.

6. Programming.
Code programs required for Web, database interfaces, including Web forms. Initial projects (Project, Volunteer database).

7. Coordinate with other IIGS™ Groups.
To obtain needs/requirement from and give advise to the other IIGS ™ groups. To advise of standards that are to be used on the webspace. Initially - Newsletter, Public Relations, Projects, Talent Scouts.

8. Locating Graphics and Images.
To hunt out graphics for IIGS™ use and upload them to the website. We can draw from those images to the IIGS pages once we have them online.

9. One-Stop Site of How-to-Links
This site will provide help to those building web pages focussed on genealogy. It will be a reliable one-stop source to find how-to links and links to HTML instructions, collections of GIF's construction tips, etc.

10. Creation of IIGS™ WebRing
This WebRing will be available for IIGS™ members to place on their personal web sites in order to promote their own site as well as the IIGS ™ .
