Webmaster's Mission Statement - 5/27/1997
The IIGS™ Webmasters Team is committed to promoting the purposes and work of the International Internet Genealogical Society (IIGS™) and areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Establish IIGS™ graphic standards and policies on use of Graphics, Logos, Tables, Frames, etc. on the IIGS™ website.

* Develop consistent "look and feel" of the entire IIGS™ website

* Develop a workable IIGS™ site plan: the framework/structure that will form the basis for the website and will allow for growth

* Develop and maintain the IIGS™ website that will be viewable by 99% of the WWW browsers

* Design IIGS™ pages for the best overall look, yet fastest download time possible

* Develop and maintain IIGS™ Webmaster committee roster

* Develop and maintain IIGS™ Webmaster archives of graphic images

* Assist other IIGS™ teams with related web design issues, support for technical issues that other IIGS™ Teams might have concerning posting material on the WWW

* Submission of IIGS™ website pages to widest range of search engines on the internet

* Provide FAQs and educational pages to foster growth of the worldwide genealogical community

An attempt at a timeline (could work, maybe not, who cares?)
1. Brainstorm what is wanted and needed (Fri 5/23) 2. Gather materials (Fri 5/23) 3. Analyse the information (Fri 5/23) 4. Submit Domain Name to be registered with Internic (Sat 5/24-5/31+) 5. Plan the overall site structure and content as a team (Sat/Sun/Mon 5/24-26) 6. Work on preliminary "look and feel" designs (Sat/Sun/Mon 5/24-26) 7. Submit logo designs to vote on (Tues 5/27) 8. Vote on logo designs (just the webmasters this time?) (Wed 5/28) 9. Finalize the basic overall "look and feel" of the site (Thurs-Sat 5/29-31) 10. Get approval (Sat 5/31) 11. Begin assembling the pages (Sunday 6/1) 12. Test and upload pages to the new Domain (http://www.iigs.org)
