The IIGS Newsletter is a monthly online publication for members of IIGS and the international genealogical community. Articles in the Newsletter cover a variety of topics:
The Newsletter Team welcomes submissions from writers who have experience in genealogical research. Articles must be by-lined and sources, if any, must be noted. Each article also must contain links to relevant online sources, bibliographies and follow-up resources.
Writers should be aware they are writing for an international audience. Use of idioms or colloquial expressions should be avoided or at least accompanied by explanations of their meanings. Abbreviations also should be used with care and avoided if possible.
Previously published articles will only be accepted from their authors and must include the name of the previous publication and the date. If the article is copyrighted by the publication, permission must be obtained from the publication for reprint.
Announcements from genealogical organizations of upcoming events may be submitted, but writers should be aware that the Newsletter has a three week lead time. Deadlines for 1999 are: January 10 and the fifth of every month after January.
The IIGS Newsletter retains the right to edit all articles (with the exception of previously published and copyrighted articles). The IIGS Newsletter is a copyrighted publication; therefore, all articles published in the Newsletter may not be re-published elsewhere without permission of the IIGS Newsletter and the author of the article.
Articles should be no more than 10k in size (about 800 words). Longer articles may be considered.
Queries are preferred; however, complete articles also may be submitted. Send submissions to the editor. with "Article Idea" in the subject line.
Letters to the Editor are welcomed. All letters published must contain the writer's name. No anonymous submissions will be accepted. The IIGS Newsletter will not accept letters which, in the opinon of the editor, contain libelous or slanderous material. Letters may be submitted to the editor.
The Newsletter Team also is in need of proofreaders and html coders.
