Family History and Heritage Conference
The Ulster Historical Foundation is pleased to announce details of the eighth family history conference in its Elusive Irish Ancestor series.
This will take place from 1-8 September 1998 and will be based in both Belfast and Dublin. It will concentrate on making practical use of the genealogical research sources available to the family historian in both cities. Delegates will have ample opportunity for guided research as well as lectures and tours all at no extra charge.

The Virginia Genealogical Society's Fall Conference will be 26 September 1998 at the Museum of American Frontier Culture, Staunton, VA. Speakers will be John Blankenbaker of Beyond Germanna, speaking on German migration into the Valley of Virginia, and Katharine Brown, research director of the Museum of American Frontier Culture, speaking on Scotch-Irish migration into the Valley.Two sessions for beginners will also be presented by Dr. Dorothy Boyd-Rush of James Madison University, and Marie Martin Murphy CGRS, both with long experience in genealogy and teaching beginning courses. If you have just begun collecting your family history and wonder what to do next, these sessions are designed just for you.
Registration is $30.00 (VGS member) or $32.00 (non-member). After 18 September, cost will be $35.00 (member) or $37.00 (non-member). Lunch is included, but cannot be guaranteed for registrations after 18 September. Confirmation, including pass for discount to Museum and free admission to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Historical Society Library for research on Friday will be mailed to all pre-registered attendees.
