IIGS Newsletter - July 1998
My name is Ed and I'm addicted to Genealogy! I recently joined the IIGS to help me with my recovery process. After carefully looking at all of the possible teams with which I could become involved, Paula W. talked me into helping her with the IIGS WebRing.
For the last 30 days I've been checking new applicants' codes prior to their admission to the Ring and I thought it might be interesting to add some comments to the IIGS Newsletter. Previewing new members' sites has given me an excellent opportunity to appreciate the diversity in the IIGS.
I started thinking of all the different kinds of people doing genealogical research and was amazed by the variety of web page designs used throughout the world. I truly never realized how many people internationally are interested in their ancestors and are so willing to share information.
Maybe next month I'll run a little trivia contest to help promote the various Web sites in our ring. For instance, we have a new member who has a link on their page for people who are interested, along with their family's roots, in police cars and all types of police transportation .
Since I'm basically a PC nerd, I thought all of you may be interested in seeing some WebRing statistics. Currently there are 82 sites in the ring. There have been 3,482 total hits in the last eight weeks with the vast majority of people operating in a fairly linear fashion. In other words, they selected the NEXT button 1,167 times. Come on, people, live a little and choose RANDOM!
