Family History Project For Kids Worldwide
by Barbara Farris
There is a current family history project underway on the Internet that is combining teachers, genealogists and students (ages 10-15). This project is run through KIDLINK, which is a grassroots project aimed at getting as many children in the age group 10 - 15 as possible involved in a GLOBAL dialog.

Allen County Public Library
by Judy Cameron
Any trip to the Midwest should include a visit to the Allen County Public Library (ACPL) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. With the second largest Genealogy Department in the U.S., ACPL is worth planning a special excursion.

The IIGS™ at Work for You

Why Genealogy? - a continuing feature
compiled by Gloria Holback, Feature Editor
What is it that drives us to research our ancestors? Are we just curious about those family members who lived long before we did and what life was like for them? Share your reasons with others by sending your story to gholback@gte.net.

A Personal Focus
by Frederick N. Gleaton
For those who don't much care who their great-great grandparents were, what they did, or where they came from, the excitement felt by the committed genealogy nerd upon locating a fourth cousin once removed via the Internet is incomprehensible.

Letters to the Editor
compiled by Wally Garchow, Feature Editor
A section for people to submit letters to be viewed by the newsletter readership. Flames will be returned to the sender unanswered. Your identity can be 'hidden' behind initials if you wish. Only one or two submissions will be used each month. Send your letter for publication to the Feature Editor at wally@calweb.com, with the subject line "Letters to the Editor."

Just My Opinion
by Greg Rehme, Oakville bei St. Louis
Rest easy, AC. We will both be history before the books are gone. The idea of putting everything on-line and doing away with paper is nothing new.

The Real Thrill of Genealogy - the Chase
by Lisbeth Sheppard, Oklahoma
But my best argument is, if you are concerned about your local society keeping up, don't try to protect it by denouncing progress. Instead, help it _to_ keep up, pull it along, and kick it occasionally if you must!
